Celebrating Earth Month: Second Chance Toys

Event Date:

Monday, April 9, 2018 to Friday, April 27, 2018

Help bring smiles to kids in need!

As part of Galvanize’s annual Spring Cleaning and in honor of Earth Month (April) to “reuse, reduce, and recycle”, Booz Allen is partnering with Second Chance Toys, a nonprofit whose mission is to collect gently used plastic toys that might otherwise be destined for a landfill into the hands of children in need.

During the month of April, Booz Allen is collecting and donating gently used plastic toys to a local nonprofit organization, St. Vincent De Paul’s Society - Riley Center. For over 30 years, the Riley Center has served as a safe, welcoming environment for all survivors of domestic violence, regardless of age, race, religion, sexual orientation or marital status. Every year, they help hundreds of survivors—mothers and children—end the cycle of abuse through confidential, individualized services and support systems. The toys will be provided for the children survivors of domestic violence.

Please collect and donate any gently used, clean plastic toys (preferably for elementary and middle school ages) with no broken or missing parts to the collection box located at Galvanize’s front desk on the Tehama Street side by noon, Friday, April 27.

We also need volunteers to give the toys a quick clean before they go to their new home with the children. Interested volunteers can come on the 4th Floor for a one hour cleaning event on April 27, 1-2 pm.

This initiative is a win-win. Recycled toys are given a second chance, kids get the toys they need, and plastics are kept out of landfills and oceans. Thank you in advance for your support!
