EVERGREEN In an effort to prevent unwanted plastic toys from clogging our landfills, Evergreen School in Scotch Plains, NJ conducted its third annual Earth Week toy collection with Second Chance Toys  (www.secondchancetoys.org). Fourth grade students helped organize and tag over 300 toys that were collected with bilingual messages. The toys were donated to Helping Honduras .

1-800 GJ Logo You have plastic toys. They have plastic toys. The family down the street has plastic toys. But so many needy young children go without them.
With Earth Week drives in full gear, 1-800-Got-Junk? helps make it all happen. With their full fleet of truck teams, they transport thousands of toys from dozens of collection sites to organizations serving needy children. We thank all the Franchise Partners who make it all possible. You are truly helping to make a difference. Both Good and Green!!!

Being_good_is_one_thing_doing_good_is_everything_tshirt-p235098025373061044trlf_400 As we gear up for our annual Earth Week collections, it seems like programs are coming out of the woodwork. Our volunteer teams are busy fielding inquiries from schools, community groups and businesses of all sizes, all of whom want to conduct their own toy drives.
And all the local recipient organizations are overjoyed and welcoming the toy donations as with a challenging economy and budget cuts they have little means to offer much needed smiles to the children they serve.
So, step up and do something people!

  • Help us collect more toys for Earth Week and contribute to saving our planet.
  • Offer to volunteer and help us find more organizations to take our toys.
  • Clean out your closets and toy trunks and bring them to one of our drop-off locations.
  • And if you are a corporation looking for a means to make "Good & Green" part of your company DNA, write to blipton@secondchancetoys.org. This is going to be BIG!

So what are you waiting for? Just do it!!

For several years now, 1-800-GOT-JUNK? franchisees have been volunteering their manpower, time and trucks to pick up and deliver toys collected all over New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York. Many thanks go to New Jersey franchise partners, Drew Trautman, Doug Martin and Jim Barnett, Pennsylvania franchise partner, Eric Blum and New York franchise partner, Cameron Robinson for all their help and hard work. They and their teams picked up, carried, loaded, hauled, and unloaded toys from locations throughout their areas, and delivered over 10,000 toys to numerous organizations that care for children in need. As a result of their volunteered time and energy, thousands of children have received toys for the holidays and during our Earth Week drives! We are sincerely grateful for their support and commitment to helping children and the environment. Pictured below are Drew Trautman, picking up toys collected by students of Evergreen School, Eric Blum, loading up his truck with toys, and Cameron in front of his truck.

Logan2
Logan3 All the great kids at Logan Annex Head Start went home with “just like new” toys on December 22, compliments of Second Chance Toys of PA.  Santa Claus personally visited with each and every child and there were plenty of smiles all around.  Second Chance Toys of PA was also able to provide Logan Annex Head Start with four, much needed, new computer systems (one for each classroom), kindly donated by TargetRx, Inc.  Logan lost all their computer equipment when their original location burnt to the ground earlier this year.  It is tremendous to help such a great group of teachers, children and families get back on their feet!  Happy holidays!
